The nice thing is that not all these creatures are evil, some just exists, without any harm. In 2017, where the majority of the horror games have one or none enemies, Yomawari shines with monstrosities made of eyes, a giant child imprisoned in a house, animated scribbles and even a giant floating cat’s head. This because Yomawari has also one of the most interesting, inspired and wide selection of enemies. Yes, if you like creepy creatures Yomawari can be a sort of masochistic Pokemon when you will finish to run in search of new nice enemies that will probably kill you. Nicely after the main game a free roam mode will be unlocked to explore every corner of the city searching for every monster. For example I saw an enemy on some images online that I was never able to meet, even if I finished the game catching all the collectables. The map is wide and some events are so rare that maybe nobody will see them. Lot of hidden scenes, events and monsters are random, you can hope to meet them just by chance or exploring. You can completely explore the city without going to the specific goal. Yomawari has an incredible sense of exploration. The monster will kill you with a contact and are very difficult to avoid, so prepare to die hundred of times. Even with these simple mechanics, the game is though and hardcore. You can just run and hide from monsters, with a stamina bar that depletes very fast. Done.īehind this simple scenario, however, a cryptic and deep plot is hiding, a world where the japanese ancient traditions collides with the modern worlds, where the forgotten yokai (traditional demons) appear in front of the eyes of a little girl in an empty town. A girl is searching her dog, later will search her sister. In Yomawari the history is simple and totally an accessory. And the cacophony between cute and creepy is the perfect gear for an innovative and interesting experience. If you watch any screenshot of Yomawari without knowing nothing about it, probably you could think that is the perfect game for your little sister.Īnd you couldn’t be more wrong, because behind the cute characters and the bright pastel colors, the heart of a real horror game beats. Yomawari is a true example of “creepy cuteness”. But sometime can happen that they are very close and bound. Cuteness and creepiness are two things difficult to relate.
